________________________________
Born Giovanni Battista Enrico Antonio Maria Montini, Pope Paul VI reigned as pope from June 1963 until his death in 1978, taking the reins from Pope John XXIII, he continued the Second Vatican Council which he closed in 1965. He gave the Counsel direction. He worked tirelessly after the Counsel to implement the changes mandated by the Council. He improved ecumenical relations with the Eastern Orthodox and Protestants. Pope Paul VI was a great devotee of the Blessed Mother. He sought dialogue with the entire world excluding no one. He conversed with other Christians, other religions, and atheists. He saw himself as a humble servant of a suffering humanity.
His feast day is September 26.
